Public Input Needed For Quorum Court Meeting Thursday
HOPE – The public’s input on the future of the existing Hempstead County Courthouse is requested at the Specially Called Quorum Court Meeting on Thursday. January 26, in the large Courtroom at 5:30pm.
There are three options for the Courthouse being discussed:
Option One is to buy the Farmers Bank Building for $1.5 million and renovate for $1.7 million, for a total of approximately $3.2 million. It has 36,000 square feet and 102 parking spaces.
Option Two is to renovate the current Courthouse, which has 33,000 square feet and 88 parking spaces, for approximately $4.2 million.
Option Three is to build a new courthouse on the current property behind the old Courthouse. This would be a two-story. 36,000 square feet, with seventy parking spaces for approximately $8.5 million.
Come and join your fellow citizens and voice your opinions, get your questioned answers and perhaps we can come up with the best Option that will be the most fiscally responsible for us all!
