“Spring … A Time to Till” April 8
PRESCOTT – “Spring … A Time to Till” the 9th Annual Garden Show and Plant Sale by the Nevada County Master Gardeners will be held Saturday, April 8, at the Stokes Center at Central Baptist Church.
This year Lielia Scott Kelly, extension profession and consumer horticulture specialist for the Mississippi State University Extension Service will be the featured speaker. She joined the extension service in 2000 and has authored several extension publications along with conducting short courses, workshops and Master Gardener programs.
Kelly is a lifelong gardener and knows how to “kill” plants, for research purposes only. Prior to working with the Extension Service, she owned a landscaping design and consulting business and a wholesale herb growing greenhouse operation.
The show will also feature a plant sale with both flowering plants and vegetables. There will be door prizes, booths, a silent auction and lunch. The cost is $15 per person.
Lunch will be provided by the Tri-Service Club and consist of a chicken salad sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie and drink for $8.
The first session of the show will be on “Plants from Grandmama’s Garden” with the second “Flowering Trees and Shrubs for Spring”.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. with the welcome and door prizes set for 8:30. The first session is schedule for 8:45-9:45 a.m., followed by a break and more door prizes. The second session will go from 10:30-11:30 a.m. from 11:30 a.m. until noon there will be demonstrations and the winners of the silent auction announced.
