Hope Academy Of Public Service Enrollment Period Open

HOPE – The open enrollment period for students entering the Hope Academy of Public Service has begun and will continue through April 7.

Any student interested in attending HAPS must complete the admissions process, including submission of a complete application package. Students from within the Hope Public Schools District and outside of the district may apply; however, out-of-district are subject to all transfer regulations, according to the enrollment information.

Applicants will be required to complete an entrance assessment, which will be offered April 8 and April 15 at the HAPS campus. Applicants will be assigned an assessment date and notified regarding results and placement status by May 19.

Highest ranking students will be offered enrollment, and any openings developing during summer months will be filled based upon ranking order. Openings occurring during the first grading period of the academic year will be filled, but no new placements will be made afterward during the academic year.

The 2017-2018 application packages are currently available on the HPSD website under “documents/HopeAcademyofPublicService/forms” and HAPS website under “documents/forms.”

Application packages may also be obtained during school hours at the HAPS office at the Garland campus, 601 West Sixth Street, in Hope. Offices will be closed during Spring Break from March 17-24.

Students applying must demonstrate “a record of advanced academic success; a record of excellent attendance; and a record of good conduct and work habits,” according to application information.

Student behavioral professor information including 2015-17 disciplinary referrals, after school detention referrals, in-school suspension assignments and out-of-school suspension assignments must also be provided.

“If you are currently in another school district, it is your responsibility to provide all this data to the HAPS office at the time you submit your application,” the application states.
