Wellness, learning expo April 22
PRESCOTT – A Wellness and Learning Expo will be held on the courthouse square from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 22.
Normally, this expo has been held at Munn’s Chapel Baptist Church, but has expanded and moved to the courthouse lawn. However, in case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Potlatch Building in the Nevada County Fairgrounds.
There will be several health screenings and those planning to be screened are asked to come fasting for better results. Snacks will be available after the screenings. The screenings include: glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, height and weight along with a fitness assessment.
Area colleges will also be on hand for to let people interested in furthering their education know what they officer. Applications will be available, as will information on financial aid, ACT/FASFA, career information and employment info.
Wadley’s Scan van will also be on hand from 9 a.m. until 3p.m. Screenings are $32 each. For appointments, call Patricia Blake at 903-244-1982. Screenings done by the scan van include: stroke, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease, atrial fibrillation, blood pressure, pulse and BMI. It will take 10-15 minutes to complete and receive a report before those participating can leave the van.
Vendors will be on hand to provide information on a variety of services for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Patrons are also urged to bring any old eyeglasses they have and donate them to the Prescott Lions/Leo Club.
The expo will also have door prizes and give-a-ways, along with games.
