Fishing For Brooke
MILLWOOOD- On Saturday 20, May The Brooke Memorial Fishing tournament was hosted by the family of Brooke Howard. The tournament is a benefit to help create a $1000 scholarship in memory of their daughter, which is rewarded each year to a senior of Spring Hill High School. The younger generations such as a niece of Brooke along with two little cousins helped continue the benefit scholarship.
Despite the rain storm that came through early Saturday morning, those fishing didn’t let it slow them down. Some braved the storm and unloaded their boats to get to their perfect fishing hole, while others waited at the ramp to let the rain settle before putting into the lake. Weigh-ins happened each hour. Within each hour you could bring as many fish as you wanted and have them weighed. Hourly sponsors provide the fisherman with a first, second, and third place prize of either $100, $75, or $50. The person who catches the biggest fish will win the grand prize of $1000 sponsored by Pafford EMS. There was a young fisherman category this year for those who are 12 and under with two young men in it; Grayson and Riley. The tri-county bass club also fished in this tournament and hosted their own weigh-ins along with competing in the scholarship tournament. Winners of each hour and overall winners are posted below.
