Bears take loss against Parkers Chapel
SPRINGHILL- The Spring Hill Bears took a loss to the Parkers Chapel Trojans on Friday night; September 8 at the Victor Nipper Stadium in Parkers Chapel. The captains for the night were number 10, Ty Rosenbaum and number 79, Aaron Barnett, with the Bears losing the coin toss and receiving the ball to start the game.
In the first quarter the Bears got off to a slow start. During the quarter Spring Hill had an incomplete pass to number 12 that was intercepted by the trojans. The trojans made the first touchdown of the evening making it 6-0.
With a long second quarter for the Bears, the trojans started the quarter with a touchdown making the score 12-0 with their two point conversion being no good. Hays Martin with the Bears returned the ball from the kickoff to the 33 yard line. Massanelli made a pass to number 3, Lewis Chambers for a gain of 2 yards making it third down. Massanelli was later brought down in the backfield allowing the trojans to takeover the ball on downs. The trojans had a 17 yard touchdown run, making the score 19-0. Another interception was made during the quarter for the trojans but was recalled for an unsportsmans like conduct that happened mid field. The trojans ended the quarter with the score 26-0.
After the half, the bears got to a slow start and the trojans had a 35 yard touchdown run and and a field goal kick that was good. The kickoff was returned by number 12, Rusty Orr who ran out of bounds at the 43 yard line. Bears Keymonte Rhodes ran the ball up the middle for a five yard gain. The ball was later intercepted at the 37 yard line and stopped by Slade Cox with the bears. The trojans ran the ball up the center for a three yard gain, being stopped by number 64. A 15 yard touchdown pass was made by the trojans making the score 40-0.
In the fourth quarter, the Bears were able to hold the trojans from scoring. With multiple turnovers in the quarter, the game ended with the final score of 40-0.
