HPS notes passing of district employee

HOPE – The dedication to his responsibilities was noted Wednesday in the announcement of the passing Nov. 10 of Hope Public School District custodial employee Kourtea Jerome Scott.
HPSD Superintendent Bobby Hart spoke for the district.
“Our district sends our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Scott’s family,” Hart said. “He was a dedicated member of our staff and will be missed.”
Nicknamed “TayTay,” Scott, 40, was a native of Hope, born Feb. 8, 1977, the son of the late Cearlie Mae Hawkins-Brady and David Jerome Scott.
He was a graduate of Hope High School and member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
Scott was employed by the HPSD as a custodian, and was assigned to the Yerger Middle School campus.
Funeral services are set for Saturday, Nov. 18, at 12 p.m. in the Yerger Middle School gymnasium, 500 E. Ninth St., in Hope. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Hicks Funeral Home in Hope. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery in Clow, under the direction of Hicks Funeral Home.
Scott is survived by two sisters, LaToya Denise Scott and Miranda Scott; two brothers, Jeremy Scott and Quinton Hawkins; nieces Ashanti Mitchell, Honesty Scott, Sekret Jones, Kallie Hawkins and Emily Hawkins; nephew, Marquis Scott; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
