PRESCOTT – On February 16, SRO Dismuke was informed, by a student at Prescott Public Schools that a former student (Jesse Johnson) had made threats to “blow up the school”. SRO Dismuke contacted DET Ferguson and began an investigation. SRO Dismuke was advised to have the school ensure all outside doors were locked and provide security for the campus.

The investigation led to Johnson being brought in for questioning, at the Nevada County Jail. During questioning Johnson admitted to making the statement and advised that he was joking.

Johnson was booked into the Nevada County Jail and held for First Appearance on the charge of Threatening to Cause a Catastrophe (a Class D Felony).

Members of the Prescott Police Department would like to provide peace of mind to parents of students, faculty and students themselves attending the Prescott School District. Any and all threats will be investigated as quickly and thoroughly as possible, while working in coordination with the school to maintain security protocols and ensure public safety.
