ROSSTON CITY HALL 003

ROSSTON – It took less than a minute for the Rosston City Council to approve a motion in favor of a new business for the community.

The motion approved Summit Properties Realty Fund 1, LLC, purchase and develop real estate in Rosston, with the city to adopt an ordinance classifying the property for use as a commercial business once the company has developed the land and the business opens.

While the motion doesn’t specifically name Dollar General, the name was bandied about by Rosston Mayor Lewis Jackson and members of the council. The property in question in near City Hall and involves four acres.

Jackson and the council agreed it would be good for the community to have a Dollar General store there as they’d no longer have to drive 20 miles to get household staples such as bread and milk, as well as providing a boost to the local and county economy.

When asked when the store would be open, Jackson said he has no idea when construction will begin, but added survey work has been done. A house and shop building currently on the property will have to be torn down.
