Charlie Grey Wilson
Charlie Grey Wilson, age 97, passed away Sunday, April 15, in Hope. Mrs. Wilson was born March 25, 1921 in Ouachita County to Charles Hickey Gillespie and Nell McAnulty Gillespie. She grew up in Camden, Arkansas.
Charlie married John L. Wilson in 1943 in Macon, Georgia. They were longtime residents of Hope and members of the 1st United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golf, her bridge group and painting the beauty of South Arkansas. Charlie was a wise, independent woman with a sweet sense of humor. She will be missed.
Charlie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her three siblings, John Dexter Gillespie, Juanita Gillespie Biggers, and Joseph Wayne Gillespie.
She is survived by her eight nieces and nephews, Nell Gillespie Riechers, Nancie Gillespie Dischinger, John Dexter Gillespie Jr, Jay Wilse Biggers, Jan Biggers Thomasson, Joseph Wayne Gillespie Jr, Ginny Lee Gillespie Keith, and Kenneth Bret Gillespie. She is also survived by her very dear friend and caregiver, Crystal Hurt.
A brief service will be held 2:00pm Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Hope followed by burial at New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Steve Johnson and Pastor John Gillespie under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the 1st United Methodist Church.
