The Hope Kiwanis Club heard from University of Arkansas Hope/Texarkana Chancellor Chris Thomason on Tuesday April 17th. He talked about Performance Based Funding and UAHT finished in the top third of the 22 community colleges. He also noted Ned Ray Purtle recently stepped down as chairman of the UAHT Foundation. Under Purtle’s leadership the foundation grew from $25,000 to nearly $3 million dollars. Dennis Ramsey will serve as the new chairman. Thomason also said the college just came from a record enrollment year and UAHT is ranked tenth in enrollment in the state. Ten years ago the college was ranked 19th in enrollment. The college is also one of the fastest growing in the state.
