Taylor charged with aggravated assault on officer

HOPE – At approximately 8:27 p.m. on April 23, Deputy Luke Sorensen was traveling near the area of Highway 67 West and Rosston Road in Hope, when Hope Police Officer Justin Dean advised he was in pursuit of a subject who had just attempted to run someone over with his car.  Officer Dean advised the subject was operating a black Pontiac Grand Am and was traveling on Shover Road

Deputy Sorensen observed the suspect vehicle cross the center line and enter his lane of traffic. the suspect vehicle struck the passenger side of Sorensen’s vehicle, striking the front passenger quarter panel of the patrol vehicle.  The suspect vehicle continued into the ditch in the 400 block of Rosston Road where it struck a telephone pole and came to a stop.

Hope City officer’s and Deputy Eric Garner pursued the subject identified as, Ruben Taylor, on foot.  Officers lost sight of the subject while pursuing him and were unable to locate any sign of him. Taylor was later taken into custody by Hope Police and transported to the HCDF.

Taylor has been charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing, failure to appear, and parole violation. Deputy Sorensen was not injured in the incident.
