Parks charged with possession

PRESCOTT – On Friday May 4, Deputy Tim McBrayer was on patrol traveling East on State Highway 299. Deputy McBrayer observed a red Sport Utility Vehicle turn South onto Nevada 31 that displayed a Texas paper plate that could not be read clearly.

Deputy McBrayer made a traffic stop on the said vehicle on Nevada 31 near State Hwy 299. Contact was made with the operator of the vehicle identifying her as Stephanie Parks from Hope. Deputy McBrayer also noticed that the paper plate displayed on the vehicle had been altered.

Stephanie Parks showed to have a suspended driver’s license with no proof of insurance and no vehicle license.

Parks was placed under arrest for these charges at the time.

K-9 Deputy Jeremy Hendrix arrived on scene with his partner Diego. Deputy Hendrix conducted a free air search around the vehicle with Diego alerting on the vehicle.

Deputy Hendrix then searched the vehicle identified as a 2003 red Jeep Patriot.

Deputy Hendrix located a large bag that contained a crystal type substance believed to methamphetamine, a small plastic bag that had a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine, a glass pipe that was burnt on one end, commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, several small plastic baggies and a set of digital scales.

Deputy Hendrix later found that the larger bag weighed over 20 grams and the smaller bag weighed approximately one gram.

Parks was transported to the Nevada County Detention facility where she awaits first appearance for possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver and for two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, no proof of insurance and no vehicle license.
