Mitchell arrested for possession after traffic stop
PRESCOTT – On Wednesday, May 16, Deputy Bo Morris was on patrol on US 278 west of the intersection of State Hwy 53. Deputy Morris observed a maroon Suzuki passenger vehicle driving left of center and across the white line numerous times.
Deputy Morris made a traffic stop on this vehicle at the intersection of US 278 and Nevada 43. Contact was made with the operator identifying him as Michael Mitchell from Hope. Deputy Morris ran a check on Mitchell finding he had a valid warrant for his arrest out of Nevada County and Hempstead County and that his driver’s license was suspended.
Mitchell was placed under arrest for the warrants at this time. A search was conducted around the driver’s area of the vehicle finding several prescription pills in a plastic baggy. These pills were later identified as Tramadol. Another container was located that contained a white crystal type substance believed to methamphetamine. The white crystal type substance was later tested and showed positive for methamphetamine.
Mitchell was transported to the Nevada County detention facility where he was held for the charges of the warrants, possession of a controlled substance (schedule IIII) for the Tramadol and possession of a controlled substance (schedule II) methamphetamine, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, driving on a suspended license and for driving left of center.
Mitchell is awaiting his first appearance on these charges.
