MCCASKILL – There’s nothing easy about rejuvenating a community.

It takes a lot of hard work and volunteers. Yet, a group in McCaskill is doing what it can to rejuvenate the community. This was done, in part, by holding the fourth McCaskill Day Saturday. A large tent was borrowed from the Hope Parks and Recreation Department to provide shade on the scorching day. There was a table filled with bicentennial items as the theme was a celebration of Hempstead County’s Bicentennial.

A raffle was held for a chainsaw, weed eater and other items. Most, though, came for the hot dogs and hamburgers, sold for $7 each and included chips and a drink. State Sen. Larry Teague and State Rep. Danny Watson were on hand, pressing the flesh and talking to their constituents.

There was a good crowd in spite of the heat. The event was put on by the McCaskill Community Development Committee.
