Washington farmer’s market open Saturday

WASHINGTON – The Old Washington Farmers’ Market will be open from 8am to Noon this Saturday, June 23rd. The market is located behind Washington City Hall across from Williams Tavern Restaurant in Washington, Arkansas. Come out and support your local farmers and get locally grown produce.

Vendors at the market include: Arnold Farm of DeAnn with tomatoes (these will go fast), sweet corn, cumbers, yellow squash, zucchini, hot peppers, sweet pepper. Maybe a few watermelon as well; Silvey Farm of Bodcaw with green beans, squash, cucumbers, kale, tomatoes, jellies, zucchini bread, handmade elderberry whistles and wooden spoons; Barry Produce of Washington with cucumbers, squash, jalapeños, painted flower pots and delicious homemade lemonade;  Aunt Fern from Ozan with her famous fried pies apricot, blueberry, chocolate, and peach and pecan pies and possibly more;  Peggy Carrigan of Ozan with various baked goods;.  The hot items at market last week were tomatoes and they went fast.  Be sure to get out there early if you want to get those hot items before they are gone!  The winner of the market give away basket last week was Mary Sutton and it included blackberries, zucchini, green beans, jalapenos, sweet bread, and cherry tomatoes.
