Florence “Flo” Palmer

Florence “Flo” Palmer, 89, of Gurdon, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at Arkansas Hospice, CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs on Monday, June 25, 2018. She was born August 16, 1928, to the late Charles Wallace and Mary Permelia Keiper in Shawmut, Arkansas.

Florence was a retired beautician and owner of Palmer’s Cake Shop. She baked the “tastiest” and most beautiful birthday and wedding cakes. She became known as the “Birthday Momma.” She was “A Good Samaritan” helping the ladies that could no longer drive to get to the grocery store, do their hair, run errands for them and get them back home. She would help anybody at any time. Her hobbies include; reading, loving her grandchildren and working in her flower garden.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bill Palmer, and six brothers and five sisters. She is survived by a son, Jerry (Carline) Palmer and a daughter, Judy (Eric) Hittenrauch, all of Gurdon; three grandchildren, Holly (Russell) Pridgen of Benton, Rusty (Ashley) Freeman of Little Rock, and Brian Hittenrauch of Bismarck; two great-granddaughters, Brooke (Ash) Wordlaw of Oklahoma City and Morgan Watson of Gurdon; and one very special great-great-grandson, Jaxston Watson of Gurdon.

Special thanks must be given to Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation and to Arkansas Hospice of Hot Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Gurdon.

Visitation will be from 10:00am till service time of 11:00am at First United Methodist Church in Gurdon.

Funeral service will be 11:00am on Friday, June 29, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Travis Langley and Rev. Donnie Hudson officiating.
