PRESCOTT – Tonight’s the night for what is hoped to be the First Annual Fireworks Show.

The Prescott City Council voted to fund a fireworks show this year, budgeting $3,000 for the project. Councilman Jerry Hightower, contacted a fireworks contractor to put on the show.

From there, Jamie Hillery and the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce was handed the ball. The show will be at the Johnson Sports Complex, while patrons are encouraged to fill the home stands of Cummings Stadium, where there will be several food vendors and a live band. The vendors include: Lotta Bull BBQ, Wingville, the Prescott Lions Club and the Prescott Band Boosters, who will be operating the concession stand.

Hank Crain will open with the national anthem, followed by Texas Firewater, from Texarkana, taking center stage to entertain the crowd until the firework show begins at 9 p.m.

The gates open at 8 p.m. and the public is invited and encouraged to attend this family-oriented event.

Hillery said if all goes well, this could become an annual event.
