Hempstead County Judge Haskell Morse donated a portrait of Hope native and former President Bill Clinton to the William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site on Thursday August 16th. Judge Morse recently ran across the formal portrait while giving a tour of the former county jail on the 5th floor of the Courthouse. He said the portrait probably hung in the courthouse when Clinton was Governor and was removed when he left office. Traditionally, the courthouse has a portrait on display of the sitting governor. Tarona Armstrong of the Clinton Birthplace said she was happy to receive the portrait and has plans to hang it in the Visitor’s Center at the Birthplace Home. The William Jefferson Clinton National Birthplace Home National Historic Site is one of only a handful of National Park Sites in Arkansas.
