Water leak fails to upset CPS day

HOPE – Students and teachers at Clinton Primary School didn’t miss a beat Thursday when a feeder line coupling from the main water supply for the campus burst in the school cafeteria, flooding most of the cafeteria.
Hope Public Schools Superintendent Bobby Hart said the coupling was located in a closet in the mechanical room of the kitchen. The early morning leak erupted not long after staff had served breakfast on campus and it was stopped via a cutoff valve, Hart said.
“It didn’t take long for it to spread out,” he said. “By 9:15 a.m., parts were en route from Texarkana.”
Hart said bottled water was provided for students since drinking fountains were out of service, and that water service was fully restored to the 930-student campus shortly after mid-morning.
“Our custodial, maintenance and food services did a good job, so that the faculty and staff at Clinton Primary never missed a beat,” he said.
