Residents enjoy spaghetti supper

EMMET – In spite of the rain, residents of Emmet turned out in force for the chicken spaghetti supper fundraiser for the Emmet Library Saturday.

The event was held in the Chuckwagon, where visitors came to enjoy the meal of chicken spaghetti, green beans, garlic bread and dessert. Most, though, got take out and went back home. However, quite a few partook of the meal at the Chuckwagon.

This was the fourth such supper held to raise money for the library. All funds raised will go toward buying books and supplies. The Emmet Library is open two nights a week, on Tuesday and Thursday. It’s a non-profit entity relying on donations and fundraisers to keep the doors open and pay the bills. To date, around 7,000 books have been donated to the library, which also has two public computers with internet access and wifi.

The library volunteers also do summer programs for area children, such as story time, craft programs, educational programs and this year, a Braille program.
