Task force makes major arrests

HOPE/PRESCOTT – The 8th North Task Force comprised of Deputies from Hempstead and Nevada Counties and Police officers from Hope and Prescott Police Departments participated in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Operation Task Arkansas.

The statewide operation resulted in 1,260 arrests, the seizure of more than 200 guns and various amounts of Marijuana, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and other illicit drugs. In total authorities seized more than 80 pounds of methamphetamines, nearly 1,300 pounds of marijuana, more than 100 pounds of cocaine, about two pounds of heroin and 228,913 prescription pills.

In addition, authorities obtained 211 guns and 357,399 and 32 vehicles.

Locally the Eighth North Task force made more than 40 arrests in Hempstead and Nevada Counties and seized $8,605 in cash, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Cocaine, Pills and other Drug related Paraphernalia and two handguns.

8^th North Agents have been working since the end of June buying and seizing drugs. Arrests have been ongoing over the past couple of months with the final arrests starting from September 17-20.
