Laurice Montgomery

Mrs. Laurice Montgomery, age 87 of Prescott, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018.  She was born February 7, 1931 in Blevins, Arkansas to William Arthur Mouser and Mabel (Allen) Mouser.

 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She grew up on a farm near Blevins and was a hard worker from a very young age, picking cotton and doing chores with her siblings.  As a young girl during WWII, her family briefly moved to Oregon to work in a ship yard.  Several years after returning to Arkansas from Oregon, she married Harvey Montgomery and moved to the Sweet Home Community where they raised their family within the Blevins School District.

 

Laurice worked many years at Prescott Manufacturing as a seamstress and later at Beaird-Poulan in Nashville, AR until her retirement.  She was a Christian and an active member of the Sweet Home Church where she played the piano for over 40 years.  Laurice had many loving friends, received tremendous pleasure in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was known as a second Mom and Grannie to many!  She enjoyed all activities around the home, especially cooking and working in her garden.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Harvey D Montgomery, her parents, five sisters and one brother.

 

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jimmy Cowart; daughter, Cathy Delametter; son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna Montgomery; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Brenda Montgomery; grandchildren, Christie and husband Paulo McKeeby, Shauna Cowart, Lauren and husband Alex Fleming, Caitlyn and husband Joshua Walker, Joshua Montgomery, Emily Montgomery, Kaylee and husband Stephen Philippe, Jake Montgomery; great-grandchildren Sullivan Walker and Max McKeeby.

 

Family will receive friends at Brazzel/Cornish The Funeral Home on Saturday, October 6 from 5pm to 7pm.

 

Services will be 2p.m. on Sunday, October 7 at Brazzel/Cornish The Funeral Home in Prescott, AR with Dr. Dan Ford officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweet Home Cemetery.
