PRESCOTTĀ  – Rain or shine, the annual Fall Festival will go on as planned.

Jamie Hillery, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, said it doesn’t matter what the weather is, the festival will be held and will begin at 9 a.m. with the playing of the National Anthem.

However, the annual 5K run/walk will begin at 8, though runners are asked to get their around 7 to get registered and get their packets. At 9:30, the first clue for the golden pumpkin will be given at the Chamber booth. Winners of the 5K will be announced at the main stage at 10, with the basketball shootout starting then as well.

The Lil’ Firecracker Freedom Kids Run will start at 11 a.m., as will the Bunco tournament. The second clue for the golden pumpkin will be given out at 11:30, also at the Chamber booth. Noon sees the pet costume contest and the water ball event with the Prescott Fire Department. In years past, before the jail was built, the PFD, Prescott Police Department and Nevada County Ambulance Service participated in the event in the parking lot that was there at the time. This year, the water ball battle will be held across from the courthouse.

At 1 p.m. the Texas Firewater Band will take center stage and perform. This is the band that performed at the fireworks show this past June. The final clue for the golden pumpkin, assuming it hasn’t been found, will be given at 2 o’clock. The Fall Fest pageant will be held at 3, with the winner of the cutest baby contest and Yeti raffle being announced at 4 p.m. and conclude the festival.

Volunteers were at the courthouse Friday afternoon setting up the pumpkin patch, which will be offering pumpkins for sale for the Halloween holiday, or just for decorative purposes.
