Street work slows Prescott traffic

PRESCOTT – For more than a week, traffic in Prescott has been slowed due to highway construction.

The construction, roughly 1.5 miles overall, affects Highways 67, 24 and 371, making it tough to get around in town – especially as most intersections have been blocked along Hwy. 67 for safety reasons.

Will Cheatham, district construction engineer with the Arkansas Transportation and Highway Department, said this is a mill and inlay job and should be finished sometime next week – depending on the weather. Most of the work is being down onĀ  Hwy. 67 cutting through the middle of Prescott. There’s also a small section being done on Hwy. 24 and Hwy. 371. The mill work has been completed and crews with Cranford Construction are working on paving the roads. Once the new surface is completed, the roads will be striped. Overall, the project was for $751,000.

Cheatham asks residents to be patient a few more days as the work should be completed next week – again, depending on weather.
