Hempstead County Budget Committee Meets

The Hempstead County Quorum Court Budget Committee held their first meeting Tuesday October 30th. Budget Committee Chairman Ed Darling said the committee will meet with elected officials, look at their proposed budgets and “wish lists”, and then check to see what funds are available. Darling said it is too soon to know how things will turn out but he said it appears revenue will be down a little due to an entity claiming a sales tax rebate in the amount of over $400,000. Darling said the committee hopes to have a budget proposal ready for the Quorum Court to consider at their December meeting.
