John Vansickle

John Vansickle, age 78 of Plano, Texas (formerly of Prescott, Arkansas) completed his life’s journey on October 18, 2018.  He was born December 31, 1939 in Camden, Arkansas to Leonard and Orene Jenny Vansickle.

John loved fishing, hunting, and playing golf.  He was a member of Yellow Creek Hunting Club for many years.  He was an independent oil marketer who opened Van Oil Company in 1976 and owned it until he retired in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Zelma Daniels, and a brother Berryman “Bill” Vansickle.

John is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Linda McGarrVansickle, daughter, Ruby Vansickle of Richardson, Texas, son, Joe (Cindy) Vansickle of Prescott, Arkansas, three grandsons, Taylor Vansickle, Shane Vansickle, and Atticus “Atty” Vansickle, three sisters, Alice Jones of Springfield, Ohio, Doris(Dewey) Morgan of Haughton, Louisiana, and Jane (Robert) Marlar of Hope, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in Prescott, Arkansas at First United Methodist Church on November 10th, at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or your favorite local charity.
