No surprises in elections

PRESCOTT – Election results took a while to get in because of the number of voters that turned out.

At 7:15 p.m. there were 35 people in line to vote at Bodcaw. Overall, 2,536 ballots were cast in the midterm election. Of those 1,488 were cast Tuesday, with 962 early vote and 86 people voting absentee.

The results were as follows:

Land Commissioner:

Tommy Land – 1,524; T.J. Campbell – 42; Larry Williams – 953.

State Senate Dist. 10:

Bobbi Hicks – 160; Larry Teague – 199.

State Rep. Dist. 5:

David Fielding – 258; Wade Andrews – 204.

State Supreme Court Associate Justice Position 3:

David Sterling – 1,018; Courtney Goodson – 1,388.

Nevada County Judge:

Mark Glass – 1,495; Mike Oliver – 1,032.

Rosston City Council:

Irene Tidwell – 65; Lesa Ward – 30.

Rosston Mayor:

Lewis Jackson – 31; Samuel Quarles – 64.

Prescott Mayor:

Terry Oliver – 688.

Nevada County Circuit Clerk:

Rita Reyenga – 2,424.

US Congress Dist. 4:

Tom Canada – 46; Bruce Westerman – 1,562; Hayden Catherine Shamel – 906.

Governor:

Asa Hutchinson – 1, 628; Jared K. Henderson – 842; Mark West – 46.

Lt. Gov.

Tim Griffin – 1,593; Anthony Bland – 891; Frank Gilbert – 32.

Attorney General:

Kerry Hicks – 46; Leslie Rutledge – 1,553; Mike Lee – 911.

Secretary of State:

Susan Inman – 967; John Thurston – 1,531; Christopher Olson – 31.

State Treasurer:

Ashley Ewald – 731; Dennis Milligan – 1,712.

State Auditor:

On the proposed amendments, all five received passing margins from the voters though issues one and three were struck from the ballot.

For – 1,452

Against – 531

Issue 4:

For – 1,486

Against – 1,010

Issue 5:

For – 1,721

Against – 791.

The new equipment worked well for the election, but didn’t initially provide a precinct-by-precinct breakdown of the results.
