Alice Patton

Mrs. Alice Palmer Patton, resident of Bob Hope Village in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, former resident of Hope/Hempstead County Arkansas received her heavenly wings October 18, 2018 after a rapid decline In health. Alice was born December 11, 1934 in Sodus, New York to Clayton and Elno Palmer of Old Washington, Arkansas, formerly of Sodus, New York. Alice was a rising star in the United States Air Force when she met the love of her life in another Airman, Albert H. (Pat) Patton of Hope. She married Pat in 1954 and resigned her commission when she became pregnant with her first child. They enjoyed 36 years of life together with their five children until his passing in 1990.

Alice was a veteran, homemaker, and also served proudly as the Hempstead County Veterans Service Officer for many years. She was a strong advocate for veterans and their families and proud to have served her country in any way she could.

After retirement, Alice moved to Florida for a short period before moving back to Sodus, New York to care for a special childhood friend Dick Burlee until his death. She then returned to her friends at the veteran’s retirement village in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida to live out her life.

Alice is survived by two brothers, Arnold Palmer and wife Regina of Rochester, New York, Gary Palmer of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, her children Larry and wife Diana, Paul and wife Linda, Naida and husband Ken, Scott and wife Jeannie, and daughter Tracy. She also left behind countless grand and great-grandchildren, friends, and acquaintances.

A ‘celebration of Life’ is scheduled for November 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Baptist Church in Old Washington. All friends are invited to come and celebrate Alice’s life with the family.
