Hope Lions club Auction

Anyone ready to bid on a “ham of meat”? Well, if you are, the Hope Lions Club auction is just around the corner. The auction started in December of 1950 at the studios of KXAR Radio. The first auction raised about $800 for Christmas baskets for the needy. The auction now generates quite a bit more. The Lions generally provide about 125 baskets to needy persons each Christmas with some funds left over for more local projects in the community.
This years auction is set for November 29th, 30th, and December 1st at Hope’s Fair Park Coliseum. The auction starts each evening at 6pm with a prayer, presentation of the colors, and the national anthem. The Lions then dive into auctioning thousands of items. Most of the items come from local merchants but there will usually be a number of trips from around the country as well as items from regional businesses.
The auction usually goes until 9pm on Thursday, 10pm on Friday, and goes until EVERYTHING is sold on Saturday.
In addition to the auction, the Hope Evening Lions will provide a concession stand with homemade food such as chicken and dumplings, soups, and wonderful desserts.
Make plans to visit the 69th annual Hope Lions Auction. If you’ve never been, you need to come because it definitely is a “Hope thing”!
