Bicentennial Celebrated With Fireworks
A day long celebration culminated with a sight never before believed seen over downtown Hope as Hempstead County turned 200 years old on Saturday Decmeber 15th. The celebration began with a program featuring four distinguished Hempstead County natives speaking and answering questions at Hempstead Hall. After that program a parade wound through the downtown area from the Hempstead County Courthouse and local talent performed on the Bicentennial stage downtown. Just after Hempstead County Judge Haskell Morse cut the Bicentennial Cake the fireworks were set off from Hazel Street and lit up the downtown Hope skyline in a never before seen blaze of glory!
