Good crowd for Breakfast with Santa

PRESCOTT – Breakfast with Santa was the place to be Saturday as 289 area residents came to the Potlatch Building to visit with St. Nick, and to enjoy waffles and bacon for breakfast.

While the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce provided the breakfast materials, the food area was operated by the Junior Auxiliary, which stayed busy most of the morning as visitors lined up for the tasty treat. It’s hard to say what children enjoyed more, the breakfast or the different stations where they could write a last minute letter to Santa, make reindeer food, or a jingle bell necklace, or play bingo. Then again, the cookie decoration station was popular as youngsters put their special artistic touches on their cookies (which were later devoured), and quite a few took advantage of trying to fling a bean bag through holes in a snowman.

But Santa was the star of the show. He sat on stage while children, most children, couldn’t wait to see him and tell him what they wanted for Christmas this year. However, there were those who were a bit more skittish and opted to avoid the jolly old elf.

Volunteers from Food Share left with several boxes filled with canned goods which will help the needy this holiday season. Nothing could have been accomplished without the efforts of the Chamber’s board of directors, the Junior Auxiliary and volunteers, all who worked together to make Saturday a special day for the children who came to the event. Some people were having so much fun they were reluctant to leave at 11 a.m. when it ended.
