H&R Block hosts coffee
PRESCOTT – H&R Block hosted the first community coffee of 2019 Tuesday morning.
Brenda Williams, owner, said they wanted to host the coffee to let the people of Prescott and Nevada County know what the business has and can do.
She said H&R Block not only does personal income tax preparation, but can also do corporate taxes, partnerships, payroll and bookkeeping. She said the employees have a lot of experience, more than 60 years combined, and all tax preparers must undergo annual training, at least 18 hours of training. Additionally, the staff has tax experts they can call on as well as the Tax Institute.
Williams said the local H&R Block office has plenty of staff to get people in and out in a timely manner. In fact, she said they can do taxes now for those who want to file early and have earned income or child credits. However, she pointed out, those returns will be held until Feb. 28. The Internal Revenue Service, she said, won’t be taking taxes until Jan. 18, but the local office can cut partial checks for those expecting large returns.
