Laneburg VFD gets new truck
LANEBURG – Ben Ratcliff, chief of the Laneburg Volunteer Fire Department, and Micah Stocton, also with the Laneburg VFD, made the trip to Greenbriar to pick up a new truck for the department.
The two returned with the vehicle Tuesday afternoon. The department wrote a grant with the Arkansas Forestry Commission two years ago for the truck. It took a while for the grant to be approved, but the VFD now has a 1998 Stewart and Stevens truck. The vehicle will primarily be used as a brush truck and be equipped with a 500 gallon tan,, hose, reel and pump. It will also be used for water rescue. The truck has 8,900 miles on it, along with a Cat diesel engine and automatic transmission.
Ratcliff said the truck replaces one that was wrecked and totaled out. He added it must be painted and put in service within six months.
