College opportunities to be explored

HOPE – Hispanic students in the Hope Public Schools and their families are encouraged to attend a Jan. 17 College Opportunities Forum at Hempstead Hall on the University of Arkansas – Hope campus.
Door prizes ranging from Hope Watermelon tee shirts to gift certificates for automotive services, meals, and other merchandise, will be given away during the evening. The program, sponsored by the Hope Public Schools and its parental engagement program, begins at 6 p.m.
Dr. Veronikha Salazar, associate dean of students at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia will be the featured guest for the evening. A native of Peru and president and CEO of Association Rosa Barrios Llumpo, a non-profit organization serving illiterate Peruvian women, Dr. Salazar holds bachelor and master’s degrees in adult education from the University of Arkansas.
The event for students in grades 9-12 is free and open to the public, particularly families of Hope Public Schools Hispanic students seeking to develop college opportunities.
