Students in Kelly Muldrew’s fourth period PeakU leadership class at Hope High School display the grant award notification and check for $1,000 the program was given for its HHS student pantry. The funds will be used to purchase oral hygiene items.

HOPE – Students in the PeakU ninth grade leadership program at Hope High School have been awarded a grant from Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation for an on-going project established by the classes taught by Kelly Muldrew.
“The grant will be used to stock the community closet that ninth grade PeakU is creating,” Ms. Muldrew said. “The closet will be stocked with essential items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, soap, deodorant, nonperishable food items, and clothing, coats, shoes, and other items.”
The $1,000 grant award was confirmed by a letter from DDAF Executive Director Weldon Johnson.
“We are glad to provide funding to purchase oral health supplies for students attending Hope High School,” Johnson wrote. “We wish you the greatest success. Thank you for supporting our mission to improve the oral health of all Arkansans.”
The Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation grants program is intended to expand access to oral health care in underserved areas, according to the foundation web site.
“Grant recipients were selected based on the innovativeness of the proposed project and its potential impact on the oral health of Arkansans,” the web site states.
Since 2015, the DDAF has contributed an average of $3 million annually to support oral health programs and initiatives, according to the web site.
