Velora Haltom
Mrs. Velora Bright Haltom, age 80 of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Friday January 18, 2019 in Crowley, Texas. Mrs. Haltom was born in Prescott, Arkansas on February 19, 1938 to Ruvel Edward and Glen Velora Andrews Bright. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Haltom, a great-grandson, John-Raven Cobb, a brother Charles Bright and a son-in-law; Dean Head.
Mrs. Haltom was a retired Hempstead County Clerk with 22 years of public service; making her the second longest County Clerk in Hempstead County. She was a life-time member of First Baptist Church in Hope, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and a choir member. She loved gospel music and singing with the Good Life Singers. She was a former member of the Hope Business and Professional Women, Hope Lioness Club, Hope/Hempstead County Democratic Women’s, Eastern Star and a ticket collector with the Southwest Livestock Rodeo. Mrs. Haltom never missed a political function with her friends; Margie Vickers and Carolyn Neel.
Survivors include a son Steve Haltom wife Debbie of Lone Star, Texas, two daughters; Carol Head of Hope, and Betty Sue Durpis husband Johnny of Tucson, Arizona, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, sister-in-law Novalyn Bright of Greenville, Texas, nephew Greg Bright and niece Dena Bright Arnold of Greenville, Texas.

Visitation 6:00 to 8:00pm on Monday, January 21, 2019 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home 1001 S. Main Hope, AR.
Funeral service 10:00am on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be in Ayers Cemetery following the service.
