Larry Hicks

Larry E. Hicks, age 72, of Bodcaw, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019 in Texarkana, 
TX. He was born on April 4, 1946 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Julia “Verda” and Herbert Hicks. 

He was Mayor of Bodcaw for 38 years and was a retired chemist at Albemarle (Dow Chemical) in 
Magnolia, AR. He was an essential part of the BodcawCommunity from being Mayor to bringing 
natural gas and rural water to the town of Bodcaw and surrounding communities. 

He lived his life serving and helping others, from his family to strangers that settled in the Bodcaw 
community and surrounding communities as well. His family and his church were the most important 
part of his life. He played an active role in raising his 5 grandsons. His wife was the love of his life from 
the first time he laid eyes on her in 1967. He shared 51 wonderful years with her. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Julia “Verda” and Herbert Hicks of Magnolia, ‘AR, two 
brothers Herbert Ray Hicks and Bobby Hicks, one sister Mary Frances Farrar and one grandson, Coby 
Ben Woodard. 

His is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Hicks of Bodcaw, AR; two daughters, Susan Woodard 
Walraven and Rebecca Tipton Hall and husband Brad Hall of Bodcaw, AR; four grandsons, Cade 
Woodard, Jace Tipton, Trey Tipton, and Clay Walraven all ofBodcaw, and one sister, Debbie Horton 
and her husband Steve Horton of Blanchard, LA. 

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home Hope.

      Services will be 10:00am Monday, February 18, 2019 at Union Baptist Church in Bodcaw. Interment

     to follow in Union Cemetery with Bro. Joe Brown officiating under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua  

      Funeral Homes.
