Chavarria charged with theft

PRESCOTT – On Thursday, Feb. 21, Deputy Bo Morris was dispatched to Nevada 224 in reference to a Hispanic female attempting to break in to a vehicle. The caller advised the suspect left the area in a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Prescott Police Officer John Smillie located the vehicle at the TA Truck stop on US 371 and attempted to make contact. The vehicle fled from Officer Smillie West on US 371. Deputy Bo Morris caught up with the pursuit on US 371. The vehicle turned around near Nevada 230 and traveled back towards Prescott turning onto Interstate 30 West bound.

Deputy Bo Morris took lead in the pursuit after the vehicle turned around following the vehicle onto I-30 West then crossing the interstate near Mile Marker 41. The vehicle traveled back towards Prescott exiting the interstate at Exit 44 traveling around another Prescott Police vehicle and turned back onto US 371. The vehicle eventually came to a stop at the motel near Exit 44. The driver of the vehicle identified as Lesa Chavarria was placed into custody and charged with felony fleeing, resisting arrest, driving on a suspended license and for theft by receiving due to the fact the vehicle had been reported stolen by Hempstead County. Chavarria awaits first appearance on these charges and then will turned over to Hempstead County authorities.
