Bob Porter

Mr. Bob Porter, age 90 of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Monday March 4, 2019, in Hope.  Mr. Porter was born in Prescott, Arkansas on June 22, 1928 to Robert Lee Porter and Fannie Mae (Billingsley) Porter.  He was the owner of Hope Novelty and Vending for over 50 years and was a member of the Church of Christ in Hope. He served in the US Navy during World War Two; after being discharged from the Navy he began to work for the Hope Novelty and later purchased the business. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a former Justice of Peace for Hempstead County and the Past President of the Arkansas Music Operators Association and Past President of the Smith and Porter Hunting Club.  He is predeceased by his parents; a son Ronnie Porter and a brother Carl Porter.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, June (Wynn) Porter of Hope,  son Mike Barksdale wife Erin, brother Richard Porter wife Margaret of Hope, three sisters: Ruby McSweeny, Louise McSweeny and Vernice Harris, two grandchildren: Tony Porter,  Marty Porter and Brock Barksdale, three great-grandchildren: Raegan Porter, Cheyenne Porter and Peyton Porter, other family member and friends.

Visitation, 6:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home.

Funeral service, 10:00am on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home with Mr. Barry Haynes.
