Photo contest underway

PRESCOTT – Nevada County photographers take note – the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office is teaming up with the Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District on a photo quest.

Actually, it’s a contest, not a quest and photos are being sought representing five categories: Nevada County’s Natural Treasurers; The beautiful roads and structures of the county; Nevada County at work and play; faith in the county; and Nevada County strong, which is basically any photos not fitting into the other categories.

The contest is underway and will run through March 25. All photographers can enter a maximum of 10 photos, but the photos can be in any or all categories. Information on entering can be found on the SWAPDD’s Facebook page or the EDO’s Facebook page. Simply follow the links to enter.

Photographers must use their full, legal name when entering, along their phone number and email address for each submission. The photos should be uplifting and in good taste. All pictures will become the property of the SWAPDD and EDO, but the person submitting the photo is responsible for getting permission from subjects and/or property owners.

Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each category, with winners also receiving certificates. The winning pictures will be published on the SWAPDD’s and EDO’s Facebook pages, and will be used in marketing Nevada County by both entities.

Entries will be judges by the Southern Arkansas University Advanced Digital Photography Class, led by Professor Steven Ochs.

According to Mary Godwin, executive director of the EDO, the idea is for local photographers to showcase their talent in capturing the natural beauty and lifestyle that is Nevada County
