Bank of Delight hosts community coffee
PRESCOTT – This week’s community coffee was hosted by the Prescott branch of the Bank of Delight.
Bank President Darwin Hendricks talked about how his father sold the Bank of Prescott and started the Prescott branch of the Bank of Delight in 1980. Initially the bank had $7.5 million in assets and has grown to $135 million as of Monday.
Hendricks also told how Whitt Stephens, founder of Stephens, Inc., basically got his start with the help of a local dentist during the Great Depression, borrowing $25,000 to buy highway bonds with and turning it into a fortune.
