Gary Thrasher

Gary Douglas Thrasher, 69, of Hope, Arkansas passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Bryant, Arkansas. He was born September 22, 1949 to Stacy Alburn Thrasher and Mildred Lucille Campbell Thrasher.

He was a 1967 graduate of Hope High School and loved playing the drums throughout school and after. His picture with the Zonks can be found in nearly every Dairy Queen across the nation. He has shared the stage with the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and David Allan Coe. When most people think of him, it is his love of playing the drums that they know best. He also had a great love and soft heart for all animals, especially cats and dogs, of which he had many throughout the years. He attended and played drums for the Cowboy Church in Hope, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stacy Thrasher and Mildred Campbell Thrasher. 

He is survived by one brother, Bruce Thrasher (Janet) of Mountain Home; one son, Matthew Thrasher (Renee) of Hope, Arkansas; one daughter, Cydni Arterbury (David) of Benton, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Megan Jaggars (Stephen), Matthew Thrasher, Joseph Thrasher, all of Hope, Arkansas and Gracynn Stafford of Benton, Arkansas; one great-grandson, Noah Jaggars of Hope, Arkansas; four nieces, Shannon Fletcher (Ryan) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, JoJo Thrasher (Laura) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Staci Thrasher of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Shelbie Thrasher of Mt. Home, Arkansas; and five great nieces and nephews, Ryan Fletcher, Jr., Luke Fletcher, J. J. Fletcher, Shelby Woodell and Spencer Palmer.

Visitation will be held 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home, 403 South Main, Hope, Arkansas 71801 preceding graveside. 

Graveside service will follow visitation at 2:30 pm in Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
