PRESCOTT – Thursday’s coffee was sponsored by the Nevada County Courthouse and Veteran’s Affairs.

The courthouse was packed for the coffee, and veterans showed up to talk about their benefits, get signed up and just see what was going on in general.

Nevada County Judge Mark Glass welcomed everyone saying this is something the courthouse has considered doing and plans on doing again in the future. He introduced Herb Langston, the Nevada County Veteran’s Affair Officer, saying Langston hit the ground running and has been doing a wonderful job for the vets in the county.

Sue Harper, the District 9 Veteran’s Service Officer, said veterans could also check on their benefits at the coffee along with any health benefits they be entitled to, adding this could be done electronically.

Robin Porter, with the VA hospital, was on hand to enroll veterans. She said this was a great event.

Lynn Ward, the regional VA officer, was on hand to discuss veterans’ claim status.
