Three Sisters Quilters Join Cross Roads EHC In Donating To Hempstead County DHS

The Three Sisters Quilters and the Cross Roads Extension Homemakers made substantial donations to the Hempstead County office of the Department of Human Services on Monday May 6th at the Cross Roads VFD building. The quilters are from Cale and they indicated at the cermeony it was a pleasure for them to donated these quilts. The ladies said they handle the machine sewing part of the quilts during the day and do hand work by night.
The Cross Roads EHC donated several quilts, 12 hand-made clothing bags, plus hand-made dolls, a bear, and a rabbit. According to a spokesperson with the EHC club, many of the children served by DHS are victims of child abuse. Often, when they head to foster care, they go with their belongs in a plastic sack. The hand-made cloth bags allow the youngsters to carry their belongings in a nicer bag and lets them know someone cares enough to provide a hand-made bag for them.
