HOPE – Each year the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana honors an outstanding adjunct faculty member. UAHT is proud to announce that this year’s winner is Jennifer Myrick-Stegall.

Myrick-Stegall is a graduate of Henderson State University and Southern Arkansas University where she earned her Bachelors in Education in Mathematics and Masters in Library Media Information Specialist. She has also earned National Board Certification in Adolescent and Young Adulthood Mathematics. She started her career at Mineral Springs Public Schools but returned home to Blevins in 1997 where she has taught for 22 years. Jennifer has been an adjunct faculty member at UAHT for 11 years. “I can honestly say I’ve never heard anyone say a negative thing about her,” stated the writer of her nomination letter.

According to her nomination letter, Jennifer is not only a model adjunct faculty member; she is what every faculty member should strive to be. She’s a full-time public school teacher who still finds the time and energy to teach classes for UAHT. More than that, she finds the time and energy to care about her students. It is one thing to show up at the front of the room and lecture for a few hours; it’s completely another to have the willingness and patience to guide students through math the way she does.

Jennifer’s students say she is:

“Nice.”

“So friendly and understanding.”

“She makes class fun.”

“She’s the best math teacher I’ve ever had.”

“Always available to help and answer questions.”

“She is very nice and respectful and encourages us to do our best.”

“Ms. Myrick is the ONLY thing I like about math!”

Myrick-Stegall will be retiring this year as an adjunct faculty member at UAHT and will be truly missed. Everyone at UAHT wishes her the very best of luck in the future.

Please join the UAHT family in thanking Jennifer Myrick-Stegall for his dedication to serving students at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana.
