Lady Cubs third in district

GENOA -The Prescott Lady Cubs traveled to Genoa looking to win their fourth straight 7-3A District Championship on April 18. 

The Lady Cubs fell a little short as they scored 119.5 points and finished third behind Ashdown with 186 and Genoa with 176.5.  Centerpoint finished fourth with 52 points, Bismarck was fifth with 36, Smackover was sixth with 26, and Fouke finished seventh with 16 points. 

Kiesha Johnson led the Lady Cubs at the district meet with 19.5 points.  Johnson finished 2nd in the 400-meter dash with a time of 68.01, 2nd in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.27, ran the second leg of the second place 4×100 meter relay, anchored the third place 4×400 meter relay, and competed well in the long jump (11.8.75) and triple jump (28-7).  Ceirra Flemons was next in scoring with 12.5 points.  Flemons finished 4th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.44, tied for 8th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.00, ran the first leg of the second place 4×100 meter relay team, finished 4th in the high jump with a jump of 4-4, and competed in the 300 meter hurdles (60.72), and long jump (13-1.5).  Olivia Cornelius was next in scoring with 12 points.  Cornelius finished third in both the 800 meter run (2:54.15), and the 1600 meter run (6:28.56) and competed in the high jump (4-0).  Kelsie Harvey scored 11.5 points by winning the high jump and breaking the junior high girls school record with a jump of 4-9, ran on the third place 4×400 relay team, and competed in the 400 meter dash (74.20).  Next in scoring was Kamryn Collier with 11.25 points.  Collier won the pole vault and broke the junior high girls school record with a jump of 8-8 and anchored the fourth place 4×800 meter relay team.

Others scoring at the district meet were Shania Rankin (11), Tamia Gulley (9), Kamille Bryant (8), Chloe Grimes (7), Brooke Formby (5), Jada Sharp (3), Leighton Hillery (2.75), Jada Purifoy (2.5), Kaylee Nolen (2), Lily McKinnon (1.25), and Georgie Crain (1.25). 

Others competing at the district meet were Emma Doucet, Lilly Koger, Charity McKinnon, Haylee Haynes, Rileigh Burke, Sidney Niven, Alexus Purifoy, Jamiah Williams, Mahaganie Lofton, Tori Franklin, Davita Dansby, Angie Munoz, Kailee Reese, Cavashia Young, Deovyun Ross, Stormy Phillips, Zyreanna Manning, Aubree Cornelius, Jacee Purtle, and Melelina McRoy.  The 4×800 meter relay team finished fourth and was made up of L. Hillery (2:58.78), L. McKinnon (3:16.48), G. Crain (3:19.01), and K. Collier (3:20.88).  The 4×100 meter relay finished second and was made up of C. Flemons (14.33), K. Johnson (13.35), S. Rankin (13.59), and K. Bryant (14.57).  The 4x 400-meter relay team finished third and was made up of K. Harvey (74.46), L. Hillery (77.38), J. Purifoy (77.11), and K. Johnson (71.30).

The Lady Cubs had a good season as they finished 6th in the DeQueen Cub Relays (74.5), 7th in the Prescott Cub Relays (54.5), 3rd in the Genoa Jr. Dragon Relays (90), 7th in the Nashville Junior Scrapper Relays (30), 6th in the Ashdown Junior Merchant Relays (46.5), and 3rd in the 7-3A Junior High District Meet.  The JV team competed well and scored 15.5 points on the season.  The total score for the season was 430.5 points for an average of 71.75 points per meet.  The top five scorers for the season were K. Johnson (66), C. Flemons (60.75), K. Collier (52.25), O. Cornelius (38.75), and J. Purifoy (32).  Other team members are S. Rankin (27.5), K. Harvey (23), K. Bryant (22.5), T. Gulley (22), B.
