Still’s Celebrates 60 Years

A landmark, family-owned business is celebrating a significant anniversary this year. Still’s Auto Service opened on May 5th, 1959. Jewell and Margaret Still became business owners after Mr. Still had served in World War II, worked at the experiment station, as well as Wylie Motor Company and as Shop Foreman for Young Chevrolet. The Still’s purchased a building that had previously been Cook’s White Star Laundry at 3rd and Washington. As time went on, Jewel Jr. started working part time when he was just 14 and Don started when he was 18. Brother Randy also worked in the business for a time. Jewell, Sr. retired in the early 1980’s. Those Mr. Still is gone and Margaret lives at Heather Manor (she recently turned 100!), the business continues to thrive. Still’s will host a special Chamber Coffee on June 13th from 9:30am until 11am to celebrate their anniversary. They hope to see all their friends…and to make some new ones!
