Farmer’s Market opens
PRESCOTT – There was a celebration at the Nevada County Farmer’s Market Friday morning as the market turned 10-years-old.
It was also the first day for local and area farmers to bring produce, canned and baked goods to the market to sell to the public. There was even a vendor selling different cuts of beef, with the meat stored in freezers in a trailer.
Jamie Hillery, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, welcomed and thanked everyone for coming. She pointed out the pavilion was made possible by the 2008 Leadership class.
While the farmers mostly had new potatoes and squash, there was also plenty of baked goods on hand, as well as fresh honey and canned jams and jellies. One group was selling plants to raise money for a trip later on.
