McRae Reunion this weekend
PRESCOTT – It’s time for the McRae Reunion.
While most of the reunion will take place at the Texarkana Convention Center, the main event will be held in Prescott Saturday, June 30. The day will kick off with a parade at 10 a.m. However, anyone wanting to participate needs to be at Third and Ross by 9 a.m. to get lined up. Patricia Blake, coordinator, said anyone who wants to be in the parade needs to show up and it doesn’t matter what they have, be it a motorcycle, car, truck or ATV.
The parade will head down Third St. taking a left on Vine on to Second where it will take a right and head to Main. At Main St. the parade will turn right heading to Fifth where it’ll take another left and go to the McRae School. According to Blake, the theme is “Color Prescott Purple and Gold”.
Those wanting to line up, she said, can use the old Wolf Den parking lot.
At the conclusion of the parade lunch will be served. But, in order to enjoy the meal, catered by Woods, participants must have an advance ticket as none will be sold at the door. Not having a ticket only means those attending can’t eat, but they can mingle, visit and share old memories to their hearts content.
While at McRae School, a group of Steppers from Waldo will entertain the audience. In addition, Cowboy Sno shaved ice will be on hand to help those attending stay cool as it’s supposed to be hot.
There will also be a car show at McRae. When everything ends at McRae, everyone will return to Texarkana for the end of the reunion.
